LIFE Ecodigestion 2.0, presented during the 25th International Water and Irrigation Exhibition (Smagua 2021)
Oct 28, 2021 María José Tárrega of Global Omnium, the project’s technical coordinator, presented the latest results of the LIFE ECOdigestion 2.0 project presented at the 2021 WWTP Sludge Management Conference, held as part of the 25th International Water and Irrigation Exhibition (Smagua 2021) at the Zaragoza Trade Fair Centre from 19 to 21 October 2021. The conference, attended by over 50 people, dealt with different topics related to the management of sludge generated in wastewater treatment, such as its current status, its recovery or the development of innovative technologies and R&D&I, among others. LIFE Ecodigestion 2.0 participed in the IX Conference on Management and Treatment of WWTP Sludge, organized by the Environmental Biotechnology group of the University of Barcelona
On November 24, the technical coordinator of the LIFE ECOdigestion 2.0 project and process manager of the Quart-Benàger WWTP, María José Tárrega presented the latest technical results obtained in the project at the IX Conference on Management and Treatment of WWTP Sludge, organized by the Environmental Biotechnology group of the University of Barcelona. In this paper, the kinetics of manure degradation calculated from discontinuous tests carried out on a laboratory scale were presented. The kinetics have been calculated from two different methodologies, through the constant ks and through the Gompertz and NLS equation, obtaining as main results the optimal dose of manure in the digestate under study to achieve maximum production while maintaining the stability of the digester and a good adjustment of the kinetics to the empirical values.
LIFE Ecodigestion 2.0 commemorates the World Water Week 2021
Brussels, 23 August 2021 – World Water Week 2021 will take place from Monday 23 to Friday 27 August in Stockholm, Sweden. During this conference, experts, practitioners, decision-makers, business innovators and entrepreneurs from various sectors and countries will discuss and exchange ideas to promote new initiatives and propose solutions to today’s water challenges. This is why, during World Water Week, we want to highlight the commitment of our project to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically to SDG number 6: Water and Sanitation for All. LIFE Ecodigestion 2.0 thanks to its automatic digital control system allows to dose organic waste in anaerobic digesters of WWTP and to produce green energy (biogas).
